1 week pics

Well, our sweet girl has been with us for 1 week...what changes it has brought. It's amazing how one little baby can keep you SO busy, especially when you throw a 2 year old it the mix. I can honestly say that for one whole week I have gotten absolutely nothing done! Oh well. I have done lots of just sitting and enjoying Kaylen's sweetness! That's something.

Aiden has still been adjusting to his big brotherhood status. His favorite "job" is putting the diapers in the diaper genie. He's also getting better about letting me feed her. This has been his biggest obstacle to overcome because when she wants to eat that is, of course, when he wants to play, get a snack, go outside, etc. This morning he said "sisser wants to eat again, OH MAN!" It was pretty funny. The picture of them sitting together was from this morning when Aiden just had to have Kaylen sit and watch Dora with him. Too cute!

Enjoy the pictures!

She's here!

Kaylen Rose Greenwald joined us on Friday, October 17th at 1:43pm. 7 lbs 1 oz, 18 1/4 inches long. She's perfect. She has a very mellow disposition and has been pure joy since the moment she was born. She already has Daddy wrapped around her little finger, but big brother is at her beck and call too. Aiden thinks his sister is really neat. He is enjoying helping change diapers and holding her. Every time she cries he runs over and says "it's ok, it's ok. Don't cry baby"

Aiden phrase of the week!

Phrase of the week: "Ho de dosh"
aka: oh my gosh!

The trauma of becoming a big brother!

If you have been wondering, yes, I'm still pregnant. Our little girl can't decide when she wants to join us in this world. I have been having contractions daily, every 2-4 minutes, lasting hours on end. Each day they seem to get a bit more painful but just don't seem to want to flip the switch and put me into real labor. I just start to convince myself that "this could be it" and then the contractions start to fizzle out. I'll keep hanging in there, but I'm hoping this is a sign that she will be coming SOON!
We have, of course, been trying to ready Aiden as much as possible for his new big brother status. It's so hard to know if they really understand what is going on. At first Aiden was most excited about taking "baby sisser" to daycare. Finally one day I thought I better explain to him that the baby would still come home with us every night...she wouldn't STAY at daycare. I don't think he was quite getting the picture. His latest comment is how baby sisser is going to come out of mommy's belly. One day he said "baby sisser come out of mommy's belly, but we put her back in when she crying". So then we had to have the discussion that once she comes out, she stays out. Well, I think he's getting it but it is a little scary because yesterday at daycare Aiden was telling Mandy (the sitter) how baby sisser was coming out but she couldn't go back in and he started to cry. Poor kid. This is totally going to rock his world! None the less, he still seems excited for her to be here. Wish us luck!

Donkey Kong Eggs

Had to share this one-I love how a 2 year old mind works. Aiden and I were up doing the normal morning routine...play, cartoons, breakfast, etc. I asked him what he wanted to eat for breakfast. He thought about it second and replied "Donkey Kong eggs". Ok, I'm puzzled. I'm racking my brain trying to think of what in the world he could be talking about. After making him repeat it 3 times, I decided he must be talking about the dinosaur egg oatmeal we'd found at the store a few days earlier. So, I get out a package of the oatmeal am getting ready to make it when Aiden (very frustrated at this point) yells "NO, I want Donkey Kong eggs like Mommy and Daddy". I'm still a little puzzled when I remembered that a few days earlier we made some eggs over easy on toast which Trent calls "Dunkin' Eggs". Ahh Ha! Sure enough, that is what he wanted. In fact, he has wanted it everyday for a week now! Guess I better buy more eggs.
