Last night I was reading Aiden a book. One of the lines read "Good job, your so smart." Aiden, without missing a beat, says "that's because I ate my smarties!"

Kaylen; how time flies

Our little peanut is almost 4 months old already. Going back to work has been difficult, but all in all we are transitioning ok. Kaylen still refuses to take a bottle, so I'm lucky to be blessed with such a flexible job that allows me to leave and feed her on my breaks. We have tried (not kidding) every bottle I can find and nothing has pleased her. I have one more bottle in the mail which I'm hoping might work. In actually looks like a pacifier (which she takes just fine) attached to a straw going into a bottle. Sounds a bit bizzarre, but I'm out of options. If that doesn't work, I'm done fighting it and will just plan on going over twice a day to feed her. Unfortunately, with her lack of feedings during the day, she has started making up for it at night. My sweet child who was sleeping 8-10 hours is now waking up once (sometimes twice) a night to eat. I knew she was making it too easy on me! Other than the bottle issues, she continues to be a delightful baby. She hardly ever cries, is easy going and happy-go-lucky to the world! She rolled over from front to back a few weeks ago but has showed no interest in going the other way. Also, she has a started to giggle. One of my most favorite sounds is a baby's laugh, so you can imaging how much I love this new stage in her life. She has even started to snort when she gets to really laughing...oh so cute! She continues to be a daddy's girl but will snuggle with anyone that will hold her.
In other news, I have decided to work four days a week instead of the usual Monday-Friday. I will have to pull 10 hour days while I'm there, but it will be nice to have an extra day to spend at home with my babies. Also, I have started going back to school. If all plans go accordingly, I will complete my Masters degree in March of 2012! It will be a long 3 years but worth it when I'm done.

Not so funny!

Aiden always seems to keep us on our toes and makes life interesting. Yesterday, our sitter had her routine inspection of her daycare. I knew the inspector was going to be there that day but was suprised when I walked into the house as I could see by the look on Mandy's face that something had happened. Apparently, Aiden (who has been into "telling stories" lately) decided he would tell the inspector that his Mom and Dad give him spankings when he is a bad boy. This was not a simple comment, but rather a continuing story...for an hour! As he loves being the center of attention, he proceeded to tell her in great detail how he "had to try and be a good boy or he would get in trouble", "he didn't like getting spankings" and "this is my baby sister Kaylen-Mommy and Daddy love her but sometimes I get in trouble" This was all fun and games until the inspector asked our sitter for our names, phone numbers and address...YIKES! For the record, Aiden does not get spankings and I don't know how, when or why he got it into his head to concoct such a story. So, Trent and I are expecting a call from DFS anytime now!

Back to work

I can't beleive my 3 month maternity leave is over already. It seems like we just barely brought are little angel home. The thought of leaving her makes me tear up every time. I haven't spent more than an hour away from her...ever! My boss was ever so nice and let me come back part-time my first week, so I will only have to suffer through a few hours. I have enjoyed spending such quality time with both my kiddos!

Kaylen is turning into such a big girl. Full of personality and a smile that brightens the room. She is losing that "newborn look" which is bittersweet. This will be the last time we have a newborn in the house so I want to savor every moment. She is also turning into quite the talker. Coos of course, but we can carry on 20 minute conversation without breaking a sweat. Hopefully she will still talk to me that much when she's 16...I won't count on it. She is also growing into quite the little butterball. I always say we don't have scrawny babies in this house and she is holding true!

Aiden is still convinced his new sister is the best thing since sliced bread. He is always watching out for her, talking to her, kissing her, bringing her toys to play with, etc. I think he is most excited to bring Kaylen to daycare with him. I don't know what he thinks she will do there but he is excited none the less. Aiden went to his first dentist appointment today. I was little worried that he would freak out but he was such a big boy. He sat through an entire cleaning without even as much as a wimper or wiggle. He makes me so proud when I see what an amazing little man he is growing in to.

Kaylen is 10 weeks!

Our little girl is 10 weeks old already. This means only 2 more weeks for mom before I head back to work. As you can imagine, this is a very sad moment in time. While I don't think I could ever have the patients to be a stay at home mom, I have enjoyed the time off and being with my children. Kaylen continues to be a great baby; eating, sleeping and growing well! She is sleeping through the night which is such a relief. Aiden was over a year before he slept for 6+ hours, but Kaylen gave me a break and was sleeping for 6-8 hours stretches by 8 weeks. She continues to melt our hearts with her sweet snuggles and grins. As you can imagine, she didn't get much out of her first christmas but did seem to enjoy all the hustle and bustle. She especially enjoyed all the family around to hold her every second of the day! We hosted the Greenwald christmas at our house this year and the day after christmas we headed to Casper to visit the Cox side of the family. Kaylen was able to meet her Uncles Jason and Ryan, Aunt Vickie and cousin Sheridan for the first time. We love our families and enjoy spending time with them.

Birthday Boy!

I'm finally getting around to posting some pictures of Aiden's big #3 birthday. It seems like just yesterday we brought him home from the hospital. After 22 hours of labor we were so glad to hold him in our arms. He was always a busy baby and continues to be a busy boy now. It is amazing to see the smart, funny young man he's growing into. He is so full of personality and love. If he is anything like he is now, we figure he will grow up to be the social director of life! Always making sure everyone is in their place, and yes he can be a bit bossy at times. (my mom would say he gets that from me) We love him so much and are so blessed with such a great little man.
